Social Activities For Rural Development Society

SARDS is a Non-Governmental Organization constitute by professionals in the year 1986 to meet the developmental challenges facing the Urban and Rural Community, with commitment, professional inputs backed by professional knowledge of the development dynamics of the contemporary India. It is governed by Nine well experienced and committed persons drawn from different professional agencies under the leadership of Mr. Suneel Kumar, who has got more than three decades of experience in the development sector.

In the nearly 32 years of its existence, SARDS has not only succeeded in putting up significant work in various areas of development, but has built up models for such activity for replication as well as scale-up. It is a basically child centered development facilitation agency. Children and education is one of priority as well as core competence area of SARDS.

SARDS has a significant experience of working in 107 Mandals and 11 municipalities of 9 Districts named Prakasam, Nellore, Guntur, Krishna, East Godavari, west Godavari, Vishakhapatnam, Kurnool and Kadapa districts of Andhra Pradesh. SARDS is currently operating in the districts of Prakasam, Nellore, Guntur, East Godavari, West Godavari and Vishakhapatnam Districts of Andhra Pradesh.

These activities have been in various areas that include children rights and education, health and HIV/ AIDs, water and sanitation, housing and civic amenities development, livelihoods and micro finance, skill enhancement and micro enterprises promotion, agriculture, horticulture and livestock advancement, natural resource management, Disaster risk reduction and climatic change management.

Empowering and rehabilitating the most marginalized groups like children, adolescents, youth & women in difficult circumstances, rural and urban poor, unemployed/underemployed, tribal and nomadic communities, landless, small and marginal farmers, micro and small entrepreneurs, rural artisans, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and other vulnerable groups like those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, sex workers, and victims of natural and human made in both urban and rural settings in its operational area.

The major strategies that have been placed in all development interventions undertaken by SARDS are Institution Building, capacity building, convergence, leverages and linkages, networking, advocacy and lobby.
